“90210″ actress Shenae Grimes held a benefit for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital last night in LA.

The host looks gorgeous wearing a chic Helmut Lang lace-sleeve jersey mini-dress.

The asymmetrical dress which she paired with Christian Louboutin cork peep-toes, has one long lace sleeve, a lace insert at front and a ruched body.

Although her dress is sexy, it’s not too sexy for her event.

As much as I like the look, I’m not a fan of necklaces worn with an asymmetrical neckline like this.

Whilst most celebs have been sunning themselves in St. Barts or skiing in Aspen, Leighton Meester has been working to get “singing career” off the ground.

At the opening party of Miami’s newest nightclub Klutch, the actress/”singer” wore a sexy Christopher Kane Spring 2009 LBD with the trademark scalloped edges which featured heavily in Kane’s Spring 2009 collection.

It’s been hard to maintain a style crush on Leighton Meester recently, as both her looks and make-up have been very questionable.

But here she gets back on track looking sexy, chic and confident pairing her dress with YSL suede ankle boots.

I love everything about this look which grants her the first place in the BDOTW poll.

Leighton Meester hosted a post-New Year’s party at the Venetian in Las Vegas on Saturday night and again she didn’t let us down in the style stakes.

She looked fresh faced wearing a Nina Ricci Resort 2009 layered spaghetti strapped dress with a ruffled asymmetrical skirt.

Her dress was paired with Derek Lam Spring 2010 strappy sandals.

I’ll do my best to pretend that her good run wasn’t spoilt by this lace and taupe pant ensemble at Dusk night club on NYE in Atlantic City.

I could’ve loved it, if it weren’t for those pants.

Whilst Cheryl Cole was going for the shock factor on Saturday’s X Factor show, Dannii Minogue’s look was more refined.

The judge who is mentoring the girls opted for another J’Aton Couture gown which was just a breath-taking as her gown last week.

Her asymmetrical one-sleeved glittering gown which was accented with a black thin belt, had a delicate lace bodice.

I loved her wavy updo and her soft make-up.

Black platform heels completed her look.

Her second look was a bold shouldered LBD by J’Aton Couture paired with a steel waistband and gold YSL peep-toes.

This look was less dramatic than previous looks but she still looked gorgeous, even with the slightly crimped hair.

In order to still show her respect for the poppy appeal, she wore her poppy as a bracelet.

It has been reported that Simon Cowell is unhappy about the Cheryl and Dannii stealing all the spotlight with their fashion choices.

Apparently he told the girl’s that it was a talent show and not a fashion show. I would say he should concentrate on remembering the contestants names.

Having struck gold with The September Issue, R.J. Cutler now has a couple similar irons in the fire. For starters, there’s a very mysterious documentary: “It is fashion-related,” the director assured us last night. “I wish I could talk more about it. We will announce it soon. It’s going to be high-stakes and exciting, and there are a lot of very awesome people involved.”The other one, as you might have heard, is a potential adaptation of Grace Coddington’s illustrated book Catwalk Cats. “I remain hopeful and optimistic about it, because that’s my dream project,” Cutler said. “Who knows what the schedule is? Animation is a long process.”Cutler delivered these updates last night at the Crosby Street Hotel, where he was screening a ten-minute doc about Rag & Bone that he just made in collaboration with Starbucks, of all people. (The film debuts today on www.frappuccino.com and the label’s Web site.) “I thought maybe I’d get a lifetime Starbucks card,” Cutler (center, with Rag & Bone’s Marcus Wainwright and David Neville) joked. Most fashion-hungry viewers would agree that the real caffeine jolt needs to go to whoever’s holding up his next two projects.

In this picture of Lily Allen it would be easy to assume that the singer was shooting the Chanel Resort 2010 campaign, as she’s wearing a red jacket from that collection.

She is actually being shot by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel’s Coco Cocoon campaign.

In the behind the scenes video from the Coco Cocoon campaign, the singer poses with ‘just got out of bed’ hair and a sexy red pout.

These images are in stark contrast to the lady-like images we have already seen from the black and white campaign.

I interviewed Chloë Sevigny last week since she’s been chosen as a Woman of Fashion for our brother site. The infallibly stylish (in my opinion) actress told me she’d certainly love to do another collection with Opening Ceremony, but also mentioned that she’s open to other collabs. “I’d like to do something with a high-end company,” said Sevigny. “You know, the way that Sofia Coppola did with Louis Vuitton. I thought it was very cool. There were no labels on anything. I like that. I prefer it.” Earlier last week, the Big Love star told WWD that her dream collab would be with Hermès. Considering that her Opening Ceremony collection is the result of a casual mention to the press, I think Sevigny might be trying to tell the world of luxury that her designer door is open. So who might it be? Louis Vuitton is certainly the über-collaborator (Kanye, Murakami, Sprouse), but a project with Sevigny might be too similar to Coppola’s. Hermès? Hmm, this kind of thing doesn’t seem their speed. Maybe Tod’s? They do have a thing for actresses. Who do you think Sevigny should collaborate with next?—Meenal Mistry

“What symbolizes your past 20 years in fashion?” The founders of Dazed & Confused asked themselves that question a lot in the past year as they prepared for the magazine’s slew of 20th anniversary celebrations, which included blow-out bashes, a commemorative book and exhibition, and 20 different cover shots by the mag’s co-founder Rankin. Now, Dazed & Confused has asked 34 of its longtime friends and collaborators, like Alber Elbaz, Vivenne Westwood, Sarah Burton, and Maison Martin Margiela, to consider the same question. The group’s answers make up a time capsule of sorts—although the items included in this one won’t be saved, but sold at an online auction to benefit Oxfam. The haul includes everything from classic Gazelle trainers (Kate Moss) to a black obsidian cube (Gareth Pugh) to a white collar and black tie (from Karl Lagerfeld). Staffers and contributors like Tabitha Simmons, Karen Langley, and Gary Card donated memorabilia from early shoots and reminders of times gone by, while Donatella Versace looked even farther back—to the dawn of human civilization, really—with a Swarovski crystal-encrusted lighter. “The ability to make fire has always been a sign of human ingenuity,” she said. “This lighter is a portable fire-maker.” Christopher Kane, instead, chose to look to the future with his choice. “The Aqua Liquid bags from my A/W 11 collection are receiving a lot of attention—it will be interesting to see where they sit in 50 years’ time.” Dazed & Confused’s Time Capsule auction runs November 20 through 27 on eBay.

There’s a new evening bag I’ve been spotting everywhere at the Resort collections—the boxy, semiprecious minaudière. My favorites have been inlaid with shimmering mother-of-pearl, like the one I first fell for at Louis Vuitton (top), spotted again at Lanvin, and saw this morning at Judith Leiber (bottom). They look less like traditional minaudières than like elegant jewelry boxes—which is just what I’d use one for during off-duty time.

It’s been a little over a year since photographer Todd Selby started inviting himself into people’s homes to document their domestic setups for theselby.com. To say thanks to all those involved and to celebrate his new book The Selby Sydney, he threw an intimate potluck dinner at The Smile. No, he doesn’t live there—but since close friend Carlos Quirarte opened the establishment, it could be dubbed his second home. The spread was pretty impressive for a Sunday night get-together: fried chicken, tortillas, and fortune cookies were just some of the snacks guests treated each other to. Sarah from Colette brought Dean & Deluca popcorn; Christina and Swaim Hutson arrived with a red velvet cake. “We didn’t make it,” they confessed. “But I did decorate it myself with M&Ms!,” Christina pointed out. Tie designer Alexander Olch mingled with tattoo artist Scott Campbell while Mark Hunter, a.k.a. the Cobrasnake, snapped photos of the crowd. A posse from Australia, some of whom were featured in the book, was on hand to represent as well. Turns out Selby’s just as good a host as he is a guest—he’ll have another potluck in Tokyo at the end of October. This time he’ll be celebrating the launch of theselby.jp—a Japanese version of the site.—Laurie Trott
